(From their brochure) “Berry’s Mfg. has been a family business for over 30 years. We started out specializing in lead bullets only.

About ten years ago, we got into plastic molding business, and in the last few years, we also started making copper plated bullets. We did this because of the new government regulations and health concerns about lead bullets. Our customers needed cleaner, plated bullets required by indoor ranges.

We now manufacture over thirty types of quality plated bullets, called T.L.F.J. bullets. ” (They also have regular Jacketed bullets as of 2010)”

The bullets featured in the brochure start with a .30 cal., 110 gr. RN for carbine. Then they jump to a .380 auto, 95 gr. RN and on to the 9mm’s, 38/.357’s, 10mm/40, .41, .44 and .45 calibers including a nice 250 gr. FP for the .45 Colt.

I just got a really neat .32 caliber, 83 grain HBWC, copper plated bullet. Yes, a long hollow base wadcutter for the .32 caliber guns.

I suggest you call them for a brochure or visit online.

Stateline Bullets

I have been casting bullets and reloading for 40 years and three years ago decided to do it commercially. We produce high quality (hand sorted) cast bullets from “old school” designs that other companies simply don’t carry. Our 45 cal 200gr SWC for 1911’s is our best seller and it excels for Bullseye competition shooting. Our cowboy action bullets were designed in house, they produce less feeding friction in lever actions, this decreases overall competition times. Our 38cal 158 gr SWC is a true H&G 51 designed in 1935 by Phil Sharpe, some state it is the most accurate cast bullet ever designed for the .357 ( Jim Cebula)

Stateline Bullets is the premier provider and manufacturer of Cast Lead Bullets and reloading supplies. Our hard lead cast bullets for pistols and rifles are made of the highest quality foundry alloy and are triple hand sorted to guarantee you the best reloading bullets and shooting supplies the market has to offer, all at competitive prices. Quality, availability, and cost are all factors we take seriously.

This is the PLATED bullet company. Lead or lead base bullets can put lead vapors in the air when fired. Lead inhaled can stay in your body for 40 years and damage your liver and brain. Copper plated bullets minimize lead vapor in the air. At the firing line, lead vapor from regular lead may be in the range of 43 micrograms compared to 1.7 micrograms for plated bullets. On indoor ranges, don’t forget a LOT of lead vapor comes from the bullet hitting the backstop and splattering. All lead bullets will produce this effect except at special indoor ranges with special backstops and ventilation. Still, the more you cut down on vapors, the better and the bullets look pretty also. Rainier used a SWAGED bullet instead of a hot-cast bullet. This means formed from lead wire instead of poured into a mould. Then the bullets are copper electroplated completely. GUN WORLD and GUNS and AMMO magazines have had nice things to say about the accuracy of these bullets.

The People at Accurate Powder Company in McEwen, Tennessee have worked up a number of loads for these bullets. I talked with Ted Curtis when I noticed the loads for the same weight bullet were different for these plated bullets as compared with the same weight lead or jacketed bullet. He said that all bullets act differently. He was sure plated CAST bullets would behave differently from the Rainier plated bullets that are Swaged. So they don’t act like any other bullet and the loads from Accurate are just a bit LOWER than the loads for the same weight cast lead or jacketed bullet. I don’t have space here for examples, but in the future, I may include some loads in my individual caliber loads tables. For now, I suggest you use at least 10% less than the same bullet weight in the tables and work up from there. The ones I have used performed just fine. (2011)

I talked with Tommy, the owner of this company, and he told me about his HARD cast bullets with a BHN of 20-22. He says his bullets will not lead the barrel even at very high velocities. I have used a quantity of his new 500 S&W, .501 dia., 440 gr. GC bullets for my S&W Magnum. They are the best made cast bullets I can remember loading. A major ammunition company uses this bullet in their commercial rounds. Prices are reasonable and UPS shipping charges are good, particularly if you order 500 or more, compared to a normal minimum order of 250.

Friendswood Bullets

About us: In 1988, we began supplying friends and PSC Shooting Club members with lead bullet heads near Houston in Friendswood, Texas. Due to the rapid increase in popularity of Cowboy Action Shooting and to the ever increasing cost of factory ammunition, it was decided that greater exposure to product was necessary. With this in mind, we started setting up at gun shows in Texas. In 1991, Friendswood Bullet Co. was born! Look for us on GunBroker, AuctionArms, and ReloadersAuction for additional information.

We make all of our bullets from new lead alloy called Hardball. It is a hard lead, antimony, tin alloy lubed with Liquid Alox, a proven formula for keeping leading to a minimum. This alloy is a Brinell hardness of 16, the same hardness used by Elmer Keith when he developed the 44 Magnum. Our bullets can be used in magnum loads but all lead bullets can leave leading if pushed too hard. It is up to the loader to use his/her own judgment.

(From Jerry O’Connor at CCB 6-20-2011) “As far as hardness of the bullet with respect to velocity, the general opinion of those I have been in contact with is that its not the hardness of the alloy but the sized diameter of the bullet that is more important to prevent leading. With that in mind, I have not seen or read of any “rule of thumb” for determining the exact sizing diameter for any given bullet or firearm. General acceptance seems to be no more than .002″ over groove diameter.

I have talked with a few others on Cast Boolit Forums and they seem to agree. Some members of that forum have used soft lead at higher velocities with little or no leading because of the size they have made the bullets. In the case of a revolver, throat diameter also seems to be important as the bullet is swaged in the barrel throat by the force of the burning gases.
